National Careers Week 2023 showcases the best careers guidance and free educational resources from across the UK. Taking place between 6-11 March, it is an excellent opportunity to get young people thinking about their future careers, particularly ones in the film and screen industries.
To celebrate, we've launched a brand new careers-focused resource for educators and careers advisors. We're also holding a special collaborative BAFTA panel for International Women's Day, which will be hosted by broadcaster Clara Amfo, and sees several female professionals discuss their roles and unique perspectives on the screen industries. The event is fully booked but you can join the waiting list for when spaces become available, and look out for a post-event highlights article around the panel's best advice for young people.

Join our exclusive careers webinars
We're excited to be hosting a series of free webinars to showcase the variety of exciting careers available for young people in the screen industries. Aimed at Key Stage 3 (or equivalent), the webinars will see professionals from across the film and screen industries joining us to speak about their careers and offer inspiring and tangible advice for young people who may wish to follow in their footsteps.
The speakers will shine a light on the nuances of their chosen fields, which include everything from Locations Manager to VFX Editor to Storyboard Artist, and they will offer insight on how to gain experience in the industry. These online careers sessions will have speakers from across the UK, and we would encourage people to book for the sessions with speakers that hail from their own geographical region, as they're likely to provide region-specific advice.

London - Costume Designer

Exclusive to schools in London, this session for Key Stage 3 (or equivalent) will see Costume Designer Harriet Kendall give an introduction to BAFTA and showcase her work, including Black Widow and Cinderella, before giving students a chance to ask questions.
Wales - Hair and Make-up Designer

Guest: Claire Pritchard (Doctor Who, Sherlock, Roald & Beatrix: The Tail of the Curious Mouse)
Exclusive to schools in South East Wales, this session for Key Stage 3 (or equivalent) will see Hair and Make-Up Designer Claire Pritchard give an introduction to BAFTA, followed by a showcase of her work, including Doctor Who and Roald & Beatrix: The Tail of the Curious Mouse.
Scotland - Wild Child Animation

Exclusive to schools in Scotland, this session for Key Stage 3 (or equivalent) will include an introduction to BAFTA, showcase some of Wild Child Animation's amazing work and give students the chance to ask questions. Wild Child Animation are a cutting edge animation studio driven by a passion for bringing great stories and ideas to life in an inclusive, fun and imaginative way.
Midlands - Sound Department

Guest: Esther Asiedu-Ofei, Assistant Sound (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows)
Exclusive to schools in the Midlands, this session for Key Stage 3 (or equivalent) will include an introduction to BAFTA, and showcase some of Esther's work, giving students the chance to ask questions. Esther is an experienced Sound Assistant who has worked on a variety of film and TV productions, including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and Malory Towers.
Northern Ireland - Italic Pig

We've partnered with the BFI to create Switched On: Screen Industry Careers - a brand new resource for anyone who offers careers advice to young people - that provides the most up-to-date tools and knowledge about the film and screen industries.
The resource will help career advisors support young people aged 11-19 to make informed decisions about their future by busting myths about working in the industry, raising awareness of roles and providing useful links to further careers resources and training across the UK.
