Misbehaviour; Papicha
Looking back at the political and social conversations that were occurring at the time whilst also spotlighting contemporary issues, Misbehaviour is a culturally aware and slickly entertaining slice of British cinema.
The 1970 Miss World pageant, held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, was made infamous by several high-profile controversies before and during the proceedings. This film, starring a wealth of British talent such as Keira Knightley and Jessie Buckley, follows the Women's Liberation Front as they hatch a plan to disrupt the competition in order to spotlight feminist concerns whilst two other women are amongst the favourites to become the first Black winners of Miss World in the event's history.
Papicha, meanwhile, is a story about a significant historical moment in modern politics and the ongoing fight for women's rights around the world. The film is set in Algiers in 1997 when Islamic terrorist groups sought to oppress the female population by controlling their behaviour, limiting what they can wear and where they can go.
Nedjma also known as Papicha is a passionate fashion student and along with her friends decides to rebel against the state by pursuing education, attending social events and refusing to wear the hijab, despite the threat which this carries. After a tragic incident within the community, Nedjma decides to stage the ultimate form of rebellion by putting on a fashion show with her friends.

In My Blood it Runs
Starting from World Children's Day on November 20 until the end of the year, teachers and students can watch In My Blood It Runs for FREE in classrooms (in-person or online) as part of the film's impact campaign.
This is an intimate and compassionate observational documentary from the perspective of 10-year-old Dujuan, an Aboriginal boy in Alice Springs, Australia, struggling to balance his traditional Arrernte/Garrwa upbringing with a state education, whilst facing scrutiny from the police. This timely film is an excellent resource for students to explore educational reform, juvenile justice, and racism.
