Congratulations to Suzanne Cohen, who teaches at Camden Summer University in London, who has been crowned Educator of the Year (sponsored by Working Title Films) at the Into Film Awards 2018. The Award was presented by actor Tom Davis.
Suzanne is a filmmaker who has been running projects for young people in Camden throughout the summer holidays for the past 15 years, culminating in a screening at the British Museum known as the Camden Young People's Film Festival. Films have examined issues such as disability access, sexual consent and the refugee crisis and are designed to be shown to other young people.
"It's wonderful to have my work recognised", said Suzanne. "I've been running film projects for young people in the summer holidays for the past 20 years, and it's been fun creative and rewarding. Hopefully I'll be doing it for the next twenty years! Thanks to Camden Summer University for allowing me to take on increasingly ambitious projects. We have a yearly screening of the young people's films at the British Museum, and its always surprising and inspiring."
Suzanne was nominated for the award by her colleague Kim Trehane.
