Australian western Sweet Country is a production full of vast, sweeping landscapes, set in the country's Northern Territory in 1929, in which cattle-herder Sam is sent with his wife and niece to work for a racist, abusive station owner named Harry March. After an aggressive altercation occurs, Harry is killed by Sam in apparent self-defence. Wary of how the locals will react, Sam and wife Lizzie go on the run as a mob gathers to hunt them down in this savage examination of historical race relations.
This biographical documentary explores the extraordinary life and career of actress and inventor Hedi Lamarr. An Austrian-Jewish emigrant, she developed a covert system to help defeat the Nazis which was given to the navy, only to be dismissed by a world blinded by her beauty. Though her achievements went largely unrecognised at the time, they formed the basis of modern GPS, Bluetooth and secure Wi-Fi technology.
