Haifaa Al-Mansour has done just that with the critically acclaimed Wadjda, a story of a young girl in Saudi Arabia who strives to forge her own path in a society that severely limits what a girl can and can't do. Our reporter Joe sat down with Haifaa to talk about the conditions she overcame to make the film, how her love of movies blossomed in a country where the cinema is still illegal and what long term influence her film could have on the Saudi Arabian film industry.
