In collaboration with Wessex Film and Sound archive, Into Film are supporting Making History: Making Movies, a project that aims to collect film footage made by people across the Wessex region, which includes Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The selected films will be included in an archive of the future, with the aim of painting a picture of life in Wessex in 2020, creating a "time capsule" of the period for future generations to look back on.
In this resource Zoe Viney, curator of Film at Wessex Film and Sound Archive, explains what an archive is, why archiving film is so important, as well as offering advice on analyising archive film images and guidance on how to make your own short film that can be part of a new archive for the future.

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
