Ages

7–11

Duration

Short (1-4 activities)

This resource suitable for pupils aged 7-11, focuses on inference skills and what can be learned about a character in a film through close observation of body language, facial expressions, tone of voice and interactions with other characters.

Through observation of supporting characters in a scene from the film Frozen, learners will consider the motivations and personalities of a variety of characters before creating a character of their own. An active drama activity (hot-seating) encourages children to take on the role of their character.

An optional script-writing and storyboarding activity follows this lesson where pupils are asked to write their character into the scene in Frozen they will have seen in the lesson.

Updating our resources

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
