Music Day
21 June
We've partnered with BBC Learning to produce a resource themed around the Ten Pieces project, which aims to inspire a love of classic musical in primary school pupils. The Ten Pieces project invites children to listen to ten pieces of classical music, and to come up with creative responses to them, be it a dance, a painting or - and here's where we come in - a piece of film. This resource is aimed at primary pupils aged 5-11 and consists of an in-depth look at the use of three of the Ten Pieces in films, including Fantasia and Johnny English Reborn, with activity sheets, instructional videos, case studies and teachers' notes provided. Ten Pieces is just one of the many projects that we're running this year to encourage young people to Get Creative. Get Creative is a major celebration of the nation's arts culture and creativity. Led by the BBC and What Next? in collaboration with a huge range of arts organisations, Get Creative invites everyone to have a go and share their creative talents.
We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
