Music Day
21 June

We've partnered with BBC Learning to produce a new resource themed around the Ten Pieces project, which aims to inspire a love of classical musical in students. The Ten Pieces project invites young people to listen to ten pieces of classical music, and to come up with creative responses to them. We've produced a filmmaking resource to help young people respond to the pieces using film - be it live action, animation, or something more experimental and abstract. This extensive resource is aimed at secondary students aged 11-16 and consists of an in-depth look at the use of three of the Ten Pieces in films, including Superman Returns and Man on Wire, with activity sheets, instructional videos, case studies and teachers' notes provided. Ten Pieces is just one of the many projects that we're running this year to encourage young people to Get Creative. Get Creative is a major celebration of the nation's arts, culture and creativity. Led by the BBC and What Next? in collaboration with a huge range of arts organisations, Get Creative invites everyone to have a go and share their creative talents.

Updating our resources

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.

What our educators say

"As an alternative provision for learners who are not in mainstream school we use your resources in a slightly different way as they generally find it hard to watch a full length film. They are, however fantastic. "
