The screen industries are a major draw for young people. It’s an exciting and dynamic world to build a career in – but it can be hard to know where to go to find useful information.

Research by the BFI and ERIC creative careers app found the screen industries were among the top three industries careers professionals wanted to know more about*. This course is here to help.

About the course
In Supporting Screen Careers Conversations, you’ll discover the essential facts and latest trends to help young people aged 11-18 make informed decisions about pursuing a role in the screen industries.

You’ll be guided through the different sectors that make up the screen industries and tackle some of the common queries that you’ll come across in discussions with your students. You’ll get the inside scoop on the range of roles on offer, key labour market information and the work the industry is doing to become more accessible to a diverse range of young people.

You’ll come away with up-to-date information, downloadable resources with links to further information and the confidence to inspire your students to recognise a career in the screen industries as an achievable and rewarding career.

By the end of this short course, you will be able to:

  • Identify the key sectors of the screen industries
  • Offer practical advice on screen industry careers
  • Signpost young people to key resources and sources of support
  • Empower students to continue to explore the industry independently.
