In 1915, a combined British, Australian and New Zealand force attacked Turkey in the Battle of Gallipoli. It was a disaster, and the Australians and New Zealanders blamed - and still blame - boneheaded British leadership. The story is here told through the experiences of two young Australian athletes who volunteer for the army in time for the ill-fated campaign. In no rush to get to the battle, the film first lets us get to know the characters really well, so we're completely absorbed by their fates.
This film has a couple of uses of mild bad language and contains moderate references to war horror.
