Synopsis

The main weapon in the Iraqi insurgency between 2003 and 2011 was the roadside bomb - known to the military as IEDs (improvised explosive devices). This brilliantly tense action-drama follows a squad of American bomb specialists in Baghdad as they try to defuse these devices, a task that is dangerous, tricky and unpredictable. Adding to the unease is the difficult relationship between the ultra-professional Sergeant Sanborn and the newly appointed Sergeant James, who relies completely on his unconventional methods and instincts. A film that shies away from politics to tell a more humanistic story of masculinity and adrenaline.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
