21 grams is the weight of the human soul, according to the slightly strange claim at the start of this film. What follows is a jigsaw of a movie: we understand that the three main characters - two men and a woman - are connected in some way by a pair of traumatic events, but it is only some way into the film that it starts to become clear what has happened, and when. This kind of fractured approach is usually used for crime films, but this is an emotionally wrenching drama, brilliantly acted and put together with incredible skill.
Contains strong language, moderate sex, violence and drug use
