Synopsis

Young American slacker Ethan Hawke is on his way across Europe by rail. By chance he meets stranger Julie Delpy and manages to persuade her to jump off the train with him in Vienna to wander round the city for a night, before he has to take his flight back to the States. Richard Linklater's charming and funny romance follows the pair around the city as they joke, argue and begin to fall for each other. But what will happen to them, and their budding relationship, after the sun rises?

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
