Synopsis

When 11-year-old Termeh's parents split up, she stays with her father, Nader, in the hope that her mother will soon come home. In the meantime, Nader hires a young woman to help take care of his own ailing father - but events quickly spiral out of control and when a misunderstanding leads to a tragedy Nader stands accused of murder. The top prize-winner at the 2011 Berlin Film Festival, this gripping story set in modern-day Iran offers a compelling glimpse into everyday life in the troubled country, but is above all a universal drama about the ties that bind - and separate - individuals within families and across wider society.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
