It’s 1979, which means that small-town high school students and aspiring filmmakers Joe and his friends have access to a brilliant tool to make their own detective-zombie movie: a Super 8 camera. Even better, they’ve persuaded a girl, Alice, to be in the film. But right in the middle of shooting a scene at a station, a train crashes dramatically in front of their eyes, exploding their set and unleashing a mysterious threat on the town. While Joe’s dad, a local sheriff, tries to get to the bottom of all the strange things that are happening, the teenage crew realise they might just have the answers captured on film. Strongly reminiscent of 80s classics like The Goonies and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, this entertaining sci-fi adventure is a sweet and spectacular tribute to the daring spirit of young storytellers and the art of filmmaking.
Contains one use of strong language, moderate threat and soft drug use.
