This documentary begins as a profile of the privileged lives of the Siegels: super-rich property tycoon David, his wife Jackie and their eight children. They boast a hectic but luxurious life, travelling around via limousine and private jet and presiding over the building of their new mansion - the biggest in the United States. Until, that is, the global financial crisis intervenes, and their decadent lifestyle is thrown into jeopardy. With humour and insight, the film chronicles the personal impact this has on the family, and how trophy wife Jackie, who grew up less than wealthy, adapts to the changes in their relationship (and budget!).
