The frequently explored theme of soldiers returning home from war is given a toe-tapping, contemporary twist in this feel-good crowd-pleaser that will delight fans of films such as Mamma Mia. Adapted from a hit British stage musical, based on the songs of pop-folk band The Proclaimers, the simple yet exuberant tale focuses on young Scottish squaddies Davy and Ally as they try to fit back into society after serving in Afghanistan. With everyday Edinburgh so different to what they experienced in the army, the mates struggle to cope with the pressures of love and life. However, their dreams of brighter futures keep them going, resulting in an uplifting movie that's brimming with warmth, poignancy and wit.
