Adapted from a successful stage play, two first-year undergraduates at Oxford join the infamous Riot Club, a male-only group of privileged students who gather in a country pub and proceed to wreak drunken havoc. Shy but charming Miles is an unlikely fit for the notorious gang of Bright Young Things, but is persuaded to join in order to emulate his older brother, whose antics as a member are legendary. Inevitably their behaviour becomes increasingly disgraceful and the film provokes a wider conversation around the British class system and male chauvinism. An engrossing thriller, raising topical issues around morality, even if it never escapes its theatrical origins.
Strong violence, very strong language, strong sex, sex references, drug use.
