At the end of the 19th century, Jay is a young Scottish man travelling across the Colorado frontier, seeking to track down the woman he loves. Naïve and unfamiliar with the harsh realities of the landscape, he enlists the help of a mysterious outlaw, who turns out to have an agenda of his own. This brisk, engrossing fable is anchored by a strong developing bond between the two men and captures the American landscape at its most romantic and harsh. Nodding to the Western’s traditional examination of manifest destiny, the film contains a streak of dark humour, a parade of eccentric characters and occasionally shocking bursts of violence.
Powerful and disturbing Cormac McCarthy adaptation about a father and son travelling through a post-apocalyptic landscape.
