Synopsis

Something terrible has happened, leading to the complete collapse of civilisation. What that terrible thing was we never find out, and it doesn't matter as we travel through the wreck of America with a man and his son who have done well to survive and keep surviving. Most films set after an apocalyptic event are either sci-fi adventures or horror movies, but this powerful and disturbing film isn't really either - although it certainly has its terrifying moments. It's more about the psychology of the survivors - and the philosophical questions raised by simply staying alive.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
