This sprightly, loose adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream centers on Berke, a high-school senior desperately trying to win back his ex-girlfriend Allison by starring in the school play she and her new boyfriend are performing in. Fearing humiliation on stage, he enlists the help of his best friend’s sister Kelly for acting tips. But events soon take unexpected turns when he finds himself drawn to Kelly. Sweet-natured and unashamedly soppy, this witty, but slight comedy combines Shakespeare with the coming-of-age genre in charming ways, throwing in some fun musical set-pieces along the way.
