Synopsis

Two mysteriously interconnected stories are told simultaneously despite being set fifty years apart, each following the journey of a child who is deaf. In 1927, a girl named Rose runs away from her father’s home in an attempt to track down her mother, a famous actress. In 1977, a recently orphaned boy from Minnesota embarks on a similar quest in search of his father. Their separate but somehow interlinked adventures will lead them to connections and discoveries which will change their lives in magical ways. Adapted from a book by the author of ‘Hugo’, this coming-of-age tale is a love-letter to silent cinema.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
