Moll is a twenty-something woman frustrated at having to live back at home with her family on the island of Jersey. Her father is suffering from Alzheimer’s and she finds her mother’s behaviour overbearing and manipulative. Out clubbing one night to escape them, she meets Pascal, a mysterious, handsome local man, and the two quickly forge an intense relationship. But before long he is being linked to a series of murders on the island, leaving Moll feeling increasingly isolated, having ostracised her family but remaining loyal to the man she believes she loves. An intelligent, stylish and original debut feature from a promising British filmmaker, full of dark, often violently disturbing twists.
Emily Bronte's classic book is revived with a brutal intensity as a poor English boy is taken in by a wealthy family and falls for his foster sister.
