Brittany is an outgoing New Yorker in her late twenties who is disappointed when her doctor tells her she must take better care of herself and put her party lifestyle to rest. No longer able to deny that her life has gotten out of control and unable to afford a gym, she nervously sets out for a run. After finishing her first mile she finds herself unexpectedly enjoying it and with the encouragement of new friends signing up to run the New York City Marathon. Now with the pressure of training, and experiencing new obstacles and relationships, Brittany tries to figure out if she is really on the right path. With great comedic performances and a heartfelt story about the community that can be found in sports, this is a valuable film to spark discussion on self-care and mental health.
British director Tony Richardson's hard-hitting coming of age tale stars Tom Courtenay as a working class kid whose athletic talent sets him apart.
