Synopsis
Film and TV writer Ellen E. Jones explores the work of director Jordan Peele including his feature films Get Out and Us, as well as his TV origins. Peele first came to prominence through his sketch show Key & Peele before going on to make a splash with his ‘social thriller’ feature film debut Get Out, which he both wrote and directed. As well as Us – which explores similar themes around race within a horror setting – he also created a remake of The Twilight Zone and executively produced Lovecraft Country, both for TV. This video essay looks at the titles which influenced Peele’s work, from Rosemary’s Baby to Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, as well as the impact of his career so far on the wider film world.
