Synopsis

With an estimated 2.5 billion active gamers worldwide, it is no surprise that the debate around the effect that video games have on our mental health and well-being is growing louder than ever. This documentary, made during the pandemic, aims to give voice to the positive effect that gaming can have on people and wider society, following a trio of individuals as they openly discuss their personal struggles and the way in which video games and gaming culture has allowed them to both flourish and recover. Featuring discussion around games such as The Last of Us, Animal Crossing and Grand Theft Auto, Gaming and Me is a timely look, and a different perspective, into the more personal impact that video games are having on us.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
