Synopsis

Ashley is 17 years old when she meets Reece on a night out with her friends. He is gorgeous and sweet, although he shows signs of being possessive. When Ashley finds out she is pregnant, Reece is eager for them to be a family – but as it turns out, things have to be on his terms. After the first time he hits her in a flash of anger, his tears of remorse and her thoughts of all the good things that came before that moment persuade Ashley to stay with Reece, also for the sake of their daughter. Over the following three years, Reece becomes increasingly controlling and violent. He wears Ashley down, until his jealousy turns fatal. Based on true events, the story has been pieced together with the help of friends and family and shines a light on domestic violence in teenage relationships.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
