Synopsis

Ballister Boldheart is the first commoner to become a knight in his kingdom where Queen Valerin is trying to change tradition. During the ceremony, Ballister’s sword malfunctions and kills the queen with a laser beam. Ballister is disarmed by his boyfriend, Ambrosius – who is also a knight – causing Ballister to lose his right arm in the process. Though he is able to flee from the scene during the carnage which follows, Ballister must live as fugitive within the city. As he draws up plans to clear his name, he is surprised by a red-haired teenage girl named Nimona who resolves to become his sidekick. While Ballister is initially reluctant to accept her help, Nimona refuses to take ‘no’ for an answer and uses her shapeshifting abilities to help Ballister fight back. Based on a graphic novel, ‘Nimona’ is a beautifully animated story about friendship, courage, and how appearances can be deceiving.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
