Synopsis

Former youth football trainer Mal is scouting for talented footballers to play in the Homeless World Cup when he meets Vinny, saving him from an angry parent after he interrupts a youth training session. Vinny is a troubled very talented football player who is living in his car after falling on hard times. After being introduced to Mal’s “dream team”, and along with a lot of convincing, he finally agrees to join the team on their trip to Italy for the Homeless World Cup where his rocky past begins to resurface. Now, however, Vinny might just have a team to rely on. This sporting drama, based on a true story, opens up conversations around homelessness, mental health, and the importance of having friends and second chances.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
