Set in a small northern town during the miners' strike of the 1980s, Billy Elliott is the heart-warming story of an ordinary boy who discovers he prefers dancing to being pummelled in a boxing ring. But even though he has the talent - and the chance to go to a prestigious ballet school - 11-year-old Billy has to convince his gruff father and the rest of his family to let him make the most of his gifts. The talented Jamie Bell is wonderful in the title role in a film that never fails to win over everyone who sees it.
Watch Billy Elliot on Into Film+ and discover People Will Always Need Coal, a kitsch archive commercial from 1975 promoting the benefits of working as a coal miner.
Documentary set in the slums of Brazil's Rio de Janeiro about a hardworking teen hoping he can escape poverty by becoming a top ballet dancer.
