Boris Lermontov is a great dance teacher - one who drives his students hard to be the best. Young ballerina Victoria Page is about to be a big star, but upsets Lermontov when she falls for a composer named Julian Craster. Julian wrote The Red Shoes - the ballet which was to star Victoria, but that Lermontov now refuses to let her appear in. So will Victoria choose stardom - or Julian? This visually spectacular, dreamlike film from Powell and Pressburger is one of the great classics of British cinema.
A gorgeous Technicolor fantasy - in a WWII setting - that puts the emphasis on celebrating life over fearing death.
