Synopsis

Who is Steve Zissou? In this highly original comedy, he's a famous documentary filmmaker specialising in undersea adventures, alternately grumpy and madly enthusiastic. Along the way he has to deal with the death of his best friend (killed by a rare shark), the arrival of a young man claiming to be his long-lost son, and an attack from brutal pirates. Few films manage to create their own world as completely as this one does.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
