Synopsis

Set in Depression-era Alabama in the 1930s, To Kill A Mockingbird is a tale about the effects of racism, ignorance and injustice. An idealistic white lawyer takes the case of a Black man falsely accused of committing an awful crime against a white woman. The story is told from the perspective of the lawyer's six-year-old daughter, Scout, who observes the prejudice and integrity among the townspeople and those involved in the trial with fascination. The film is a thought-provoking interpretation of the Pulitzer Prize winning book by author Harper Lee.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
