A fictionalised retelling of how William Shakespeare came to write his famous play 'Romeo and Juliet'. A noble young woman is passionate about the theatre but she is living in a time when only men were allowed to act on stage. She disguises herself as a boy and auditions for Shakespeare, who is under pressure from Queen Elizabeth I to bring a convincing story of true love to the stage. The playwright must learn to truly listen to his heart, as further disguises and mistaken identities stir up chaos, but also inspiration. This romantic comedy offers an accessible insight into Elizabethan times and communicates the power of poetic language and live performance.
This film has one use of moderate bad language, some nudity and sexual references.
