Arguably the finest of the many collaborations between director Werner Herzog and actor Klaus Kinski, Aguirre follows a doomed expedition of a Spanish conquistador, whose quest for riches brings doom to his troops in the dense Peruvian jungle. Kinski is astonishing as Lope de Aguirre, obsessed with his dreams of power and glory. Famed for the harsh conditions in which it was made, this is epic cinema at its finest and most captivating.
This highly-engaging film documents naturalist Timothy Treadwell's ultimately fatal bond with the bears of Alaska.
