In 1918, Tsar Nicholas II and the Russian royal family were assassinated. This Oscar-nominated animation brings what's known as poetic license to historical fact to suggest that the Tsar's daughter, Anastasia, escaped the same violent fate. Having become separated in the chaos of the Russian Revolution, the Tsar's mother escapes to France, where she does all she can to find her missing granddaughter. Two conmen decide to exploit her by passing off a girl as the real Anastasia - but it soon becomes apparent that this "Anya" may in fact be the real thing.
Beautiful and interesting animation about some super-intelligent rats with a secret.
