Synopsis

With its notorious opening sequence of an eyeball encountering a razor blade that is definitely not for the squeamish, Un Chien Andalou has always shocked and bemused audiences. Surrealist filmmakers Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel claimed that their first film collaboration was just a series of jokes dictated purely by the logic of dreams, but many viewers have also felt that among the outlandish images, the presence of plentiful satirical digs at the Church was obvious. The film remains one of the most important art films ever made and is essential viewing for any student of cinema or art history.
