Having invented the "spaghetti western" genre (so-called because they were produced in Italy but set in the US) with the Clint Eastwood-starring "Dollars" trilogy, director Sergio Leone refined the blueprint with this big-budget epic about a drifter who offers to protect a widow from a hired assassin. It's an anti-heroic vision of the Old West that has parallels throughout history, as men ruthlessly compete over the natural resources that will make their fortunes.
This film has a couple of uses of moderate bad language, moderate sex and sexual threat.
