The strict food rationing imposed in Britain during World War II actually got worse after the fighting was over, and this vintage comedy comes from that time. The residents of Pimlico in London stumble on ancient documents that let them claim the area still belongs to the Duchy of Burgundy in France - a discovery that means they can eat all the food they want and keep the pubs open all day and night! The result is a charming celebration of a very British kind of rebellion.
Poetic, nostalgia-filled documentary by Liverpool-born director Terence Davies, looking back to the harsh post-war 1950s and 1960s in his home city.
