In 1920s Mexico, times are hard for Americans Fred C Dobbs and his young friend Bob Curtin. The two drifters meet old-timer Howard, who tells them where they can find gold in the mountains. The three men soon head off into the harsh terrain, and start to prospect for gold. But the difficult conditions, and their own greed and paranoia, get the better of them and soon they feel they cannot trust each other. Will any of them get out alive? This is a classic tale of conscience, guilt and greed, with an outstanding performance from Humphrey Bogart as Dobbs.
