Into Film Clubs
Find out everything you need to know about starting an Into Film Club.
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a healthy dose of film watching - but it's important to be aware that many of the apps and websites that young people often use for watching films can come with risks that can compromise their safety.
Never before has technology played such a huge part in young people's lives, so ahead of Safer Internet Day on 6 Feb 2018, it's important to make sure you take the time this holiday to set parental controls and filters on all apps, devices and services that your children or young people use. Will Gardener, CEO of Childnet, recently wrote about Safer Internet Day 2018 for us, detailing the importance of being vigilant online.
Childnet and the Safer Internet Centre - in partnership with Into Film - have recently launched a brand new Education Pack and complementary SID TV films tailored for 3-7s, 7-11s, 11-14s, 14-18s and parents and carers, along with some guidance for educators. These are available in English and Welsh, and include lesson plans, posters, presentations, activities and more!
Owners of Kodi boxes or Amazon Fire Sticks should also be aware that as a result of advertising used on these services, children may be exposed to inappropriate content, particularly if downloading illegal films or streaming other content such as sports or TV series. In some cases, these illegal downloads can even give someone remote access to a computers webcam - an unthinkable breach of privacy. It's for these reasons - as well as supporting the many, many people who contribute to producing a film - that we champion Respect for IP and watching films in a safe and legal way.
Be aware of what children are watching and downloading, and let's work together to help them recognise when they are potentially at risk online.
