Entries for the Into Film Awards 2019 are now open, with a new range of categories to help us celebrate the brilliant work that goes on in our Into Film Clubs, and the phenomenal filmmaking talent among young people across the UK.
The Into Film Awards are an incredible opportunity for young people to showcase their talent and our categories are designed to recognise the broadest possible range of young creatives in the UK. Organised to find the most talented filmmakers, reviewers, Into Film Clubs and educators, we encourage young people aged 5-19 from all backgrounds - with all abilities - to get filmmaking ahead of the 14 December 2018 deadline. As for teachers and club leaders, now's the perfect time to facilitate filmmaking and review writing at your school, as well as starting to consider the educator and club-based categories.
Into Film has given our young creatives a platform to raise confidence via collaboration and allow self-expression to be celebrated.

The Categories
Into Film Club of the Year Awards
This category recognises and showcases the work done by two exceptional Into Film Clubs. Club leaders and club members are invited to nominate their film club. We're also giving an award to one exceptional club member nominated by their club leader.
- Into Film Club of the Year (Primary age)
- Into Film Club of the Year (Secondary/High School age)
- Film Club Member of the Year
Filmmaking Awards
There are three filmmaking categories, running across different age groups. Films may be made with professional equipment and cameras, or simply shot on a mobile phone or tablet. For full T&Cs on submitting a film, read our Terms & Conditions.
- Best Film - 11 Years and Under
- Best Film - 12-15
- Best Film - 16-19
- Best Documentary or Film for Social Change
Ones to Watch
This category honours three young people aged 13-19 who have demonstrated exceptional talent and ambition in any aspect of the world of film, be it filmmaking, reviewing, or anything in between. Who will you nominate?
Film Reviewer of the Year
This award celebrates outstanding reviews written by anyone aged 5-19. The reviewer will stand out as someone who has frequently written compelling critiques of films as part of our Review of the Week competition.
Teacher of the Year
This award recognises innovative uses of film to aid learning. Nominations may be submitted by educators themselves, or by a colleague, parent or student, and should tell us how the nominee has used film to impact positively on young people's academic or social development - be that via the screening of interesting films, filmmaking, review writing or other film-related activities.

Our Awards are a hugely enjoyable experience for all involved, with famous faces and incredible talent from across the film industry on hand to present the Awards. The 2018 ceremony included such stars as Martin Freeman (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Black Panther), Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace, Their Finest), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones, Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and Will Poulter (The Maze Runner, Son of Rambow), much to the delight of our winners and nominees.
We're opening entries earlier than ever before for the 2019 Awards so that young people have the whole summer holiday and beyond to get creating. Films can be submitted from now up until Friday 14 December 2018, and we have many free filmmaking resources and guides to help along the way.
I think it's brilliant that you celebrate the work of young people as well as educators with this event. I had a fantastic time and was really inspired by some of the work that was nominated.

Need some inspiration for your film? Download our new Get Into Filmmaking: Six Sessions from Story to Screen resource for a great way to start. It covers everything you need to know about making a successful film in just six sessions! We also have mini filmmaking guides, supporting all areas of filmmaking from scriptwriting and using a camera, to recording sound. Using an iPad or iPhone is also encouraged we want as many young people as possible to take part, regardless of their access to professional equipment. The Into Film Awards is an exciting opportunity for children and young people to showcase their work whilst developing their filmmaking, social, cultural and academic skills; inspiring them to continue creating film and learning about cinema.
Nominees will be invited to attend the Into Film Awards ceremony, to be held in March 2019 at a venue in central London, and to ensure that everyone can take part, we also offer travel bursaries for nominees attending the Into Film Awards from afar. What I loved seeing was groups of young people all working together and being creative. And that, I think, is vital. I'm not someone who particularly enjoys competition but I think anything that encourages people to work together, to be creative and to be recognised for it is fantastic
