We're delighted to reveal that our programme of Spring Screenings for 2022 is now open for bookings.
The theme for this year's Spring Screenings is We Can Be Heroes, with the programme consisting of three weeks of specially curated films that celebrate stories from inspirational figures from all walks of life, from across the globe. During what continues to be a difficult period, we feel that starting the year with tales of great inspiration - when individuals or collectives have come together to create impactful or lasting change, however big or small - is the perfect way to kick off 2022 in an uplifting and hopeful fashion.
Films included in the programme will include stunning animation Flee, in which a man recounts his experiences as a refugee; Harriet, a biopic of abolitionist and activist Harriet Tubman; LAIKA's gorgeous stop-motion animation Kubo and the Two Strings; and Mary Poppins Returns, which sees the return of the supportive and magical nanny.
There will be screenings held across the UK, in both major cities and smaller towns, and all events are completely free. Bookings are on a first-come first-served basis, so be sure to secure your places as soon as possible!
After a successful and COVID-safe Into Film Festival last year, the Spring Screenings are running in the same way. That means there will only be one school group attending each event, with a minimum booking requirement, which will help us to avoid multiple groups from mixing and ensure that social distancing measures can be observed.
All films will feature subtitles to increase accessibility and help improve young people's literacy. A selection of events will also be autism friendly, and audio described screenings may be possible upon request, depending on content. Please email info@intofilm.org to request a screening you have booked to be audio described, and we will work with the exhibitor and content provider to support this.
You can also download free film guides that accompany many of the films in the programme, which you can use both before and after your screening. Our film guides and resources are a great way to delve even deeper into a film's themes, and spark thoughtful discussions among your learners.
Much like last year's Into Film Festival, the Spring Screenings is working a little differently this year, as attendee safety is our highest priority and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to proceed with caution when organising public events. As such, we are limiting each screening to just one school group, with the aim of preventing different groups from mixing. This means that this year we will only be able to offer school groups the chance to book tickets to ensure that we can give as many young people as possible the chance to once again enjoy the cinema experience.
We have also implemented a minimum booking size for each event. The minimum booking size will be 15% of the screen capacity on average, with the actual number visible on the booking form for each event. We encourage schools to book as many seats as they can to help allow for the highest number of children and young people to benefit from this year's Spring Screenings.
Find out about our COVID-19 guidelines, how to book places, attending the Spring Screenings, accessibility and more on our Screenings FAQs page. You can also download our Event Safety Plan, which will help you plan your visit and get the most out of your unique cinema experience.
