Holocaust Memorial Day
27 January
This resource encourages young people to consider the themes of Holocaust Memorial Day through the film Wakolda/The German Doctor (12, 2014). The assembly encourages young people to consider the pursuit and prosecution of Holocaust perpetrators, and the exploration of the subject of the Holocaust in films 72 years after the end of the World War Two.
In 1960, a travelling Doctor strikes up a relationship with a local Argentine family, in particular their daughter Lilith, a lonely 12-year-old girl who unknowingly becomes close friends with one of the world's most terrifying war criminals, Josef Mengele A.K.A ‘The Angel Of Death', the Nazi who is on the run for his crimes in Auschwitz.
We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
