A film guide that looks at If Beale Street Could Talk (2018), an adaptation of the James Baldwin novel about a woman fighting to free her falsely accused husband from prison before the birth of their child. This guide is useful for exploring topics including Film Studies, Citizenship and English Literature in addition to highlighting themes surrounding crime and punishment, family and friendships, racism and prejudice, love and relationships, historical periods, gender representation, community, ethics, literature and adaptations.
We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
