Tish is a recently engaged African-American woman in 1970s Harlem, who is forced into a race against time to gather evidence proving the innocence of her fiancée before the birth of their first child, after he is falsely accused of a monstrous crime. Era and setting are vividly and poetically recalled in this lyrical adaptation of the acclaimed James Baldwin novel, from the director of 'Moonlight'. This is an important and topical film with plenty to say about familial, gender, and race relations in contemporary society.
