Short (1-4 activities)
Respecting Yourself: Growing Around Grief (11-16) explores the delicate but important areas of bereavement and grief. Through the use of the short film Ladder to You, pupils will learn to identify emotions, improve their understanding of bereavement and the grieving process.
Learners will develop some of the skills needed to assist managing the effects of grief. Further to this they will develop skills relevant to various curriculums including the English and Citizenship curriculums and the Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) guidance in England.
This resource is suitable to use with young people aged 11+, ideally in a classroom context within specific subject lessons or within pastoral sessions.
Safeguarding
This resource deals with sensitive topics so it is essential to prepare learners, their families and relevant colleagues prior to delivery. Informing them of the lesson content in advance can enable them to flag up any potential issues or triggers, anticipate questions from pupils following the lesson, and ensure that all learners feel safe and supported. Please watch the film and read through the relevant content prior
to delivering these activities in class to ensure it is appropriate for your pupils.
We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
