Synopsis

It's the early 1960s in London's comfortable but dull outer suburbs, and Jenny seems about to fulfill her parents' plan for her of getting into Oxford University. Then she allows herself to be charmed by thirty-something David, and gets swept up in a world of fancy cars, glamorous nightclubs, art auctions and some very dodgy dealings. Carey Mulligan is brilliant as Jenny, sophisticatedly quoting French thinkers one moment and a clueless teen completely out of her depth the next.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
