Synopsis

Brought up in 1970's America - but now residing in the after-life - teenager Susie Salmon is a murder victim whose spirit observes the distraught family she left behind. Composed and notably at peace, she narrates the events following her death and her family's attempts to bring her killer to justice. Peter Jackson - director of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy - spins many plates here; a supernatural fantasy, a portrait of a serial killer, a police investigation and the erosion of a family unit.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
